ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Richard M. Majko started his chemistry career at American Admixtures where he helped to develop chemical admixtures for concrete. Five years later, in 1981, he joined American Fly Ash as Technical Manager where he managed the quality control, technical services and research of coal combustion byproducts (fly ash).

In 1994 he changed careers and made the transition to the healthcare field. As a registered nurse, he trains patients on peritoneal and hemodialysis. Training is in the facility; then patients and their caregivers can perform the procedure in their own home.  He also maintains the web page, The Fly Ash Resource Center.
